Jüri Kaarma. Perfect pitch in typography

Jüri Kaarma (1950–2011) was the doyen of Estonian book design. Launching his career in the mid-1970s, he was guided by the modernist principle that lettering can and must be the principal impact factor in a book. His typography-based cover designs opened a new chapter in the history of Estonian book design; his rational layouts and preference for simple types strongly influenced the next generations.
