Villu Toots 100. His copious creative output represented the dynamic and decorative aspects of Estonian calligraphic art in the middle of the 20th century. The research focuses on his evolution from the poster painter of Tartu cinemas to the doyen of Estonian calligraphy. His propensity for teaching inspired him to open a Calligraphy School and publish several textbooks on calligraphy. A whole school of active calligraphers has emerged from among his students.
